Facebook has deleted a simple post sharing a very popular article on GoodSauce.news which criticises Facebook censorship.
I like to think I can play within the rules and let you know what you need to know without triggering the overbearing rules of the giant social media corporations so many of us rely on for important news from diverse sources.
In this particular article which reported the censorship of reporting, I didn’t embed the video which Twitter & Facebook have gone to great length to stop you seeing. I provided links to multiple sources of reporting, including mainstream media. The News.com.au reference included a short clip of the video, as well as quotes from the banned video. I also reported these.
I didn’t endorse any claims, and qualified them as only being claims. Unlike the corporate media, I made no absolute statements about the-drug-which-cannot-be-named.
In the interests of balance I also included statements from the censors’ spokesmen articulating their concerns, as well as comments made by the President of the United States, and coverage of the science and research around the world on the anti-viral drug at the centre of this ridiculous controversy.
Facebook has deemed the post just linking to this article reporting on their censorship:
“…Misinformation that could cause physical harm [which] can make some people feel unsafe.”
Here’s the thing.
“Safe” spaces are for intellectual cowards and liars who cannot countenance a reality which differs from their preferred fantasies and malevolent propaganda.
I don’t care if you “feel unsafe”. The solution embraced by generations of human advancement to ignorance has been earnest inquiry and pursuit of knowledge. Withholding information from people is not protecting them – it’s a gross abuse of power, and actual harm.
It is manifestly preposterous that reporting on social media censorship and both sides of an issue could cause anyone physical harm, unless said person was an absolute cretin who shouldn’t be trusted with a spoon.
The lesson here is to make sure you get your news via email updates from the outlets you trust. Here’s where I invite you to make sure you get this website’s updates via email by joining the mailing list, and if possible, to contribute to the production budget needed to replace the corporate media’s patronislingly selective “reporting”.
The writing has long been on the wall. Act now before we completely disappear from all social platforms.
