ALL human beings have human rights, and we possess them simply because we are human beings. They are not granted to us by government or other people. They are inalienable and natural. The most foundational human right of all is the right to life. Without this right, there can be no other rights.

The UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights highlights this in Article 3: “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and the security of person.” Article 6 also says, “Everyone has the right to recognition everywhere as a person before the law.

So why are Australian governments and voters sanctioning the deliberate killing of many tens of thousands of human beings by not making abortion an urgent justice issue at every election for every candidate?

Pro abortion choice website, childrenbychoice.org.au, states that it is estimated that half of all pregnancies in Australia are unplanned and that half of those are terminated. That’s one in four Aussie kids killed deliberately in our clinics – as many as 90,000 each year, or a whole classroom of children killed every three hours.

Human Beings Killed In Australian Abortion Clinics Each Year

Why are we not upset by this, but demand justice when virtue-signalling media sensationalise a two year old violently killed by people who should’ve cared for him? Why the inconsistency? Genocidal sociopath, Joseph Stalin said, “The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic.” Let’s decide, if necessary, to be upset by the “statistic”, and not desensitised to the senseless slaughter of tens of thousands of babies.

Perhaps it’s the fact that we can’t see the baby we’re making choices for. Being in a womb should protect a person at this most vulnerable stage of development, but shielded from view, it’s easier to disassociate from her equal humanity.

But remember, Article 6 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that a human being’s location doesn’t extinguish their right to recognition as a person before the law. Their status as a living human is not open to debate. If any science is “settled”, it’s this.

Basic Science

High school biology tells us that sperm and egg each have only half the genetic material needed to form a human being. But when these cells fuse at the moment of conception, a new human being with unique DNA comes into existence. He is not a part of the mother’s body.

Dr. Hymie Gordon, Chairman of the Department of Genetics at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, said, “By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception.

Dr. Jerome Lejeune, known as “The Father of Modern Genetics,” also testified that human life begins at conception. Dr. Lejeune explained that, “At no time is the human being a blob of protoplasm. As far as your nature is concerned, I see no difference between the early person that you were at conception and the late person which you are now. You were, and are, a human being.

The various stages of development do not make a person more human, or more alive. Every human is entitled to human rights. You are not less human when you are dependent on someone else for the sustenance of life, or a newborn baby would also not be human. You are not less human when you are not conscious, or a person sleeping or in a coma would also not be human. You are not less human when you are in the womb, that is just a location. You are not more or less human simply because of various stages of development such as a heartbeat, brainwaves, pain capability, autonomy, puberty, utility or old age.

If human life begins at conception, human rights must also begin at conception.

Arguments Ignoring Humanity

The world has an ugly history of compartmentalising people to exclude certain groups from humanity. Black people, Jews and women have at various times been denied human rights because of their skin colour, race or religion, or gender. Denying human rights because of a person’s age or location is also a heinous injustice. It is always wrong to deliberately kill them.

The most narrow-minded, ignorant thing I’ve heard in this bizarre debate – and the competition is immense – is that men, simply by their nature of not being able to have babies, are not permitted an opinion or a say in the deprivation of fundamental human rights to vulnerable people. This acerebral leftist propaganda must first assume the debate is only about one person, a woman. It denies the facts of the matter that it is not the woman’s body which ends up in the bucket. But even mere men can have an opinion when a vulnerable human being is killed (assuming you actually believe in equality of the genders under law).

The fact is that all the various excuses to justify deliberately killing preborn humans all rely on the assumption that the baby is not a living human, and subsequently fail the basic test of logic.

Ask yourself this question. Would you still feel justified in condemning that child to death if she was older, for example, 6 months old? If the answer is no, you are saying that a preborn human is not entitled to human rights because of her age or location.

The most common call for exceptions to the moral laws against abortions are in cases of rape and incest. But it’s hugely unjust to kill her simply because her father is a rapist, or because her existence causes her mother unbearable anguish. Using violence to solve violence is not how a civil society operates. Abortion cannot undo or reduce the horrible violence of rape. The new human life is a different person, an innocent person, a human being relying on you and I to protect her from injustice and violence. That person is not less human or less entitled to the fundamental right to life because she’s not outside the womb. If you wouldn’t kill her outside the womb, you mustn’t kill her anywhere.

Another invalid excuse for abortion is the claim it’s sometimes “medically necessary”. More than one thousand obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians, midwives, and other medical professionals signed a declaration that the purposeful destruction of the unborn child is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman. They held that there is a fundamental difference between abortion, and necessary medical treatments that are carried out to save the life of the mother, even if such treatment results in the loss of life of her unborn child. They confirmed that the prohibition of abortion does not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal care to pregnant women.

The worst excuse for killing babies is the claim to a woman’s rights. Again, if this argument wouldn’t work when the baby is a year older, it doesn’t work at all. Nothing ever gives anybody the right to deliberately harm other human beings (outside convictions for crimes in a legal justice system). Religious freedom is a human right, but it doesn’t give anyone the right to harm anyone else. By the same standard, personal liberty (e.g. “A woman’s body, therefore a woman’s choice“) is limited when exercising that liberty has predictable harm on another human being.

Add to that the hypocrisy of claiming to defend women’s rights while half the children killed by abortion are female, if not more thanks to gender selective abortions, and the claim of acting in the interests of justice for females is exposed as a gross deception.

Informed Consent

Any surgical procedure requires the patient involved to give Informed consent. Informed consent is “permission granted in full knowledge of the possible consequences, typically that which is given by a patient to a doctor for treatment with knowledge of the possible risks and benefits.” The Qld Health website says, “It is important that you have sufficient information so that you understand and make an appropriate decision about that proposed treatment or procedure.” Sufficient information mandates the explanation of all alternative options, as well as a discussion about possible risks of each.

Abortion however, often impacts negatively on women’s health, with Coleman et al (2011) concluding from her meta-analysis that women who have abortions have an 81% increased risk of mental health problems. These problems include: depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, and eating and sleeping disorders.

Post-abortion trauma is considered by many a type of PTSD, but some, still denying and dismissing the very real health epidemic it presents among women, further compound the negative impacts by refusing to acknowledge and treat them.

Any counselling offered prior to abortion is rarely independent of abortion clinics and obviously there is no profit from a woman empowered to choose life for her child. Counselling afterwards for women who find themselves struggling to come to terms with their abortion decision is almost unheard of.

One viewer explained to me that after her abortion she was asked to sign the medicare rebate form which listed counselling as one of the services she received, except she never actually received any counselling.

We have a crisis in Australia, and in fact, most of the Western world. We have a fetish for death in a culture of comfort. In developing nations where life is a privilege, a struggle, and dying of starvation doesn’t take a lot of discipline, there is no obsession with suicide, euthanasia, or deliberately killing their babies in deluded claims of compassion and competing rights.

What we need is an army of people motivated by love, who actually care about justice for others; an army of voters who will vote and volunteer for candidates who promise to fight the death culture, and media sources that will care as much about the genocide of 1 in 4 Aussie preborn kids as they do about the equally tragic deliberate deaths of born human beings. What you can do is write to all the candidates in your electorate when it’s election time and ask them if they’ll represent you, earn your undecided vote, and fight against abortion.

Every human life is precious and worth fighting for at every stage. It’s time we actually believed the Declaration of Human Rights, and acted like “Everyone has the right to life,” and not just when it is convenient.
