The Australian War Memorial has backflipped over its use of gender-neutral pronouns.

Between the 1st and 8th of January 2023, the daily tweets honouring fallen soldiers replaced “his” or “her” with “their,” causing backlash and claims of the “worst form of disrespect”.

A memorial source insisted ‘their’ was being used to stop mixing up the genders of fallen soldiers.

However, opposition veterans’ affairs spokesman Barnaby Joyce criticised the memorial and described the move as ‘woeful wokeism’.

Social media users expressed their outrage, reminding the War Memorial that the fallen men were men and should be honoured as such.

Matt Anderson PSM, Director of the Australian War Memorial, issued a statement claiming there had been no change to the policy regarding gender pronouns and that the tweets had been “misinterpreted.” There is no link to the so-called policy.

As of January 9th, the War Memorial has reverted to the use of correct pronouns when tweeting to honour our diggers.

Binary spokeswoman Kirralie Smith said the attempt to appease activists at the expense of our soldiers was insulting.

“Re-writing facts or history is the highest form of insult to our fallen soldiers. Brave men and women lay down their lives for our nation, they must be honoured factually or it is no honour at all. Woke public servants need to stop shoving their agenda down our throats. They need to state the facts or find another job. Our diggers deserve the best and highest forms of honour.”
