The following summary of the good video above is by The Good Sauce

In a world that screams at us to embrace every fleeting desire as our identity, Dorian’s story cuts through the noise like a beacon of hope. At 14, he was blindsided by same-sex attraction, a feeling that emerged unbidden and left him grappling with shame, fear, and confusion. Growing up in an ethnic, conservative family in Sydney, Dorian wrestled with the tension between his love for God and the desires that seemed to contradict everything he’d been taught. By 16, he was diving headfirst into the gay scene, chasing affirmation through relationships, parties, and the allure of a lifestyle that promised freedom but delivered only emptiness. It’s a story all too familiar in our culture—a young person seeking meaning in a world that offers cheap substitutes for truth.

Dorian’s journey wasn’t one of instant answers or simplistic solutions. He tried to fill the void with everything the world offered—sex, drugs, alcohol, and the fleeting highs of Sydney’s nightlife. Yet, as he candidly shares, none of it satisfied. The nagging questions persisted: Is this really who I am? Is this really freedom? At 21, disillusioned and weary, Dorian encountered a pivotal moment when a friend handed him a book by Joseph Nicolosi on reparative therapy. Initially, he resisted its claims, angered by its suggestion that his attractions might stem from deeper wounds—rejection from an emotionally absent father, an overly close bond with his mother, and the crystallising effect of pornography. But the truth, like a pebble in his shoe, refused to be ignored.

At 22, Dorian reached a breaking point. In a raw, desperate prayer, he cried out to God: “I just want to know the truth.” That night, in a pitch-black room, a candle inexplicably flickered to life, radiating beams of light that pierced his chest. The next day, a family member shared a vivid dream of Jesus washing Dorian with light, confirming what he’d experienced. Walking into church, he was struck by a portrait of Jesus with beams of light streaming from His chest, captioned, “Jesus, I trust in you.” For Dorian, this was no coincidence—it was God answering his prayer, revealing Himself as the Light of the World.

What followed was a journey of healing, not coercion. Dorian pursued counselling, not to “fix” his sexuality but to address the shame and wounds that had shaped his identity. He explored the roots of his attractions—envy of the masculine traits he felt he lacked, compounded by childhood perceptions of rejection. Through this process, coupled with a deepening relationship with Christ, Dorian found freedom not in becoming “straight” but in becoming whole. Over time, his attractions shifted, and today, he’s married to a remarkable woman with four children, a living testament to God’s redemptive power.

Dorian’s story challenges the cultural narrative that labels such journeys as harmful or impossible. He acknowledges the pain of confronting deep wounds but likens it to the necessary discomfort of healing—like withdrawing from addiction or climbing a mountain. He passionately defends the right to self-determination, arguing that laws banning conversion therapy, even when consensual, rob individuals of the freedom to seek truth. His compassion shines through as he speaks to those still in the LGBT community, affirming that Jesus sympathises with their struggles and longs to heal, not condemn.

This isn’t a story of judgment or triumphalism—it’s a raw, exhilarating adventure of a man who dared to ask God for truth and followed where it led. Dorian’s journey reminds us that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, standing at the door of every heart, ready to bring light to the darkest places.
