With the Wuhan virus still dominating our lives, it is appropriate to set out ten truths, some of which emerged very soon after the virus spread across the world.
FIRST, it was obvious from the beginning but challenged at the time (for example by Joe Biden and the WHO), that the thing to do when the virus emerged was to seal our international borders.
Being a country which is remote and an island or two, Australia has an advantage over most countries. The closing of the frontiers should have been until the virulence of the virus was properly assessed.
We have had more than enough time to do that. Worse than the flu, Wuhan is, for example, obviously not as serious as poliomyelitis.
SECOND, although only conceded recently by the US mainstream media, soon after the virus emerged it became clear that the likely origin was a laboratory in Wuhan in Communist China.
Only the naïve would believe this was for highly dangerous ‘gain-for-function’ peaceful research, banned by the Obama administration but supported by Dr Anthony Fauci.
There is evidence that experimentation at the Wuhan laboratory was at least in part for military purposes.
THIRD, it was obvious from the beginning that communist-style lockdowns and internal border closures are alien to our constitutional system, unjustified medically and seriously damaging to human rights and the economy.
In particular, the refusal of permission to visit dying relatives is unnecessary and constitutes a cruel and unusual punishment of the innocent.
FOURTH, through cooperation with the US administration, massive reparations should have been and could still be collected from the communists.
This would be, at the very least, for their crime in allowing New Year revellers to spread the virus across the world while closing internal travel and in denying what they knew to be true, that is human-to-human transmission was occurring.
To this should be added the laboratory development of the virus which is contrary to the laws of nature and of God.
FIFTH, the principal aim should always have been to protect the vulnerable, and to use medicines, as proven by eminent scientists, in the treatment of the virus, medicines such as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin.
That these have been banned to the advantage of the pharmaceutical behemoths is suspicious, especially when social media has gone out of its way to support this.
SIXTH, the private and public partnerships to enable the faster approval and production of vaccines in Operation Warp Speed, announced by President Trump as early as 15 May 2020, meant that the Australian authorities should have ensured that the widest range of vaccines was readily available to those Australians who wish to be vaccinated.
At the same time, since the vaccines have not been fully tested, they should obviously only be recommended for the most vulnerable.
There are still existing and unknown dangers with the vaccines and ‘vaccine failure’ in countries such as Israel and the UK suggests politicians should not insist on ridiculous rates of vaccination such as the NSW Premier Berejiklian suggesting that only an 80% injection rate would stop her imposing further lockdowns.
SEVENTH, the fundamental principles of our democracy and human rights are not being observed. There is no justification for their curtailment because of the virus.
It is completely unacceptable that most of the usual checks and balances on the abuse of power by politicians, federal and state, have been neutralised in relation to the virus. The Prime Minister and Premiers are behaving more and more as if they were dictators.
EIGHTH, now an institution totally captured and seriously damaged by those twin evils, career politicians and powerbrokers, representative democracy must be made fully accountable to the people, 24/7.
NINTH, the crisis has demonstrated how far much of our media have departed from being free and responsible to being an accomplice for the politicians’ agenda.
TENTH, this sad saga demonstrates the eternal truth of Ronald Reagan’s warning: freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. As he said, “It must be fought for, protected, and handed on (to our children) for them to do the same.”
