Berejiklian: “Utter contempt”
And how many in the media joined in rejoicing over the closure of the beach based on deceiving compressed photographs? Yet there is not a whittle of evidence of the virus flourishing under those quintessential Australian elements: surf, sun and sea.
In addition, according to the NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant, the decision to close the industry was made without medical advice. The Orders enforcing that under the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW) may well be challenge-able. The Premier as usual has not revealed the advice she considered before making her extraordinary decision.
NSW resembles more a dictatorship than a parliamentary democracy.
The fact is the Australian people never agreed to surrender the rights with which they are endowed by their Creator, rights which their predecessors intended to be reserved to the people forever.
Now it was always sensible to take advantage of our remoteness and island status to close our international borders until we assessed the virulence of this virus. Two things quickly became obvious. The virus was worse than the flu but nothing like, say, that terrible scourge, poliomyelitis. Moreover with the virus, the vulnerable were identifiable.
Accordingly, governments should have made their protection their priority. In addition responsible behaviour should have been encouraged, as it was, and as soon as developed a range of vaccines acquired be made available to all on the principle of informed consent both as to side effects and effectiveness.
There never ever was any justification for a national, state or city-wide lockdown. The world gold standard, as then established by Taiwan, demonstrated that this was not necessary.
The lockdowns in Australia and the closing of state frontiers have been unnecessary. We were told lockdowns were to ‘flatten the curve’, that is allow hospitals to cope with the number likely to be admitted.
The government’s projections, influenced by those from Imperial College London, exaggerated the likely number to fall ill as well as those to die.
Then without any explanation, the politicians moved from flattening the curve to elimination of the virus
Elimination predictably proved impossible.
One appalling feature of the increasingly authoritarian system is the refusal to reveal facts and advice. This is the badge of communist regimes, not a parliamentary democracy. Take the cause of the current lockdowns, the Bondi Cluster, which, given their failure to regulated aircrew drivers could well be called the Berejiklian-Hazzard Cluster. Asking in the Australian, why aren’t we told whether the crew were masked, vaccinated, or tested, Chris Woodley told The Australian ‘I think the limo driver has been taken for a ride.’
And why do governments always sit on ‘the’ medical advice? . Is it because it is so shallow it would not stand scrutiny? The first modelling for the national cabinet, the one based on Imperial College modelling results, contained a major transposition error which nobody in the National Cabinet nor the armies of advisors noticed. This was only noticed after the modelling was released much later. Had it been released at the time a significant error would have been noticed and possibly, elective surgery would not have been so unnecessarily suspended.
Governments are hiding information, behaving dictatorially, and are unaccountable. The Wuhan virus appears to be turning our leaders into dictators.
This can never be accepted by a free people.
