In a week where Parliament sat and the bureaucrats danced, The Other Side with Damian Coorey delivered a blistering exposé of the political and cultural absurdities gripping Australia and the West. From Penny Wong’s evasive answers on the ISIS brides scandal to the Sex Discrimination Commissioner’s inability to define “woman,” this episode is a masterclass in how far removed our leaders have become from reality—and why it’s time for everyday Australians to stand up and say, “Enough.”
Damian Coorey opens with a sharp critique of the federal government’s handling of the ISIS brides controversy. The Albanese government’s decision to facilitate the return of women and children linked to Islamic State fighters—some of whom allegedly paid smugglers to escape Syria—was met with stonewalling and obfuscation in Senate hearings. Penny Wong, the Foreign Affairs Minister, struggled to answer basic questions, deflecting responsibility to bureaucratic processes and the Department of Home Affairs. The Prime Minister denied involvement, despite clear evidence of government facilitation. As Coorey rightly points out, common sense has been replaced by red tape, and the Australian public is being treated with contempt.
But the madness doesn’t stop there. The episode dives into the Orwellian nightmare unfolding in the UK, where citizens are being arrested in their homes for tweets deemed “offensive.” One man was taken away for saying “F Hamas”—a statement against a terrorist organisation, not a race. Another, comedy writer Graham Linehan, was arrested and hospitalised for refusing to bow to gender ideology. Coorey warns that this is not an aberration but the new normal in Western democracies, where free speech is under siege and truth is criminalised.
Back home, the cultural rot is just as deep. The Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Dr Anna Cody, couldn’t answer whether a trans woman has XX or XY chromosomes. She also refused to define “biological male,” instead parroting neo-Marxist identity politics. Coorey and his guests, Joel Jamal and Scott Challen, rightly call out this ideological capture of our institutions. When the person tasked with protecting women’s rights can’t define what a woman is, we’re in serious trouble.
The episode also previews the upcoming March for Australia on October 19—a grassroots movement pushing back against mass immigration and cultural erosion. Organisers Joel Jamal and Scott Challen emphasise that this isn’t about racism or exclusion, but about reclaiming national identity and restoring sanity to public discourse. With over 2.7 million temporary visa holders in the country, Australians are right to ask: who’s really in control of our borders?
Coorey closes with a powerful reflection on the cultural shift underway. The left’s dominance of media, education, and bureaucracy is being challenged by a resurgent right that’s tired of being silenced. The polarisation we’re seeing isn’t new—it’s just that the right is finally speaking up. And the left, used to controlling the narrative, doesn’t know how to handle it.
This episode is a wake-up call. It’s a reminder that truth, freedom, and common sense are worth fighting for. And it’s a rallying cry for Australians to get involved, speak up, and push back against the madness.
